After 16 years, BIGBANG’s Daesung is parting ways with YG Entertainment.
On December 26, amid reports that Taeyang had signed with THEBLACKLABEL following the expiration of his contract with YG Entertainment, the agency initially stated that they were still discussing the possibility of contract extensions with his bandmates G-Dragon and Daesung.
However, later that day, YG Entertainment announced, “Daesung has decided to end his contract with us.” They also elaborated, “Looking for a fresh start.”
As with Taeyang, YG Entertainment emphasized that while Daesung is leaving the agency, he is not leaving BIGBANG.
“The fact that Daesung is a member of BIGBANG has not changed,” the agency said. “We support Daesung’s choice and new beginning and are always open to working with him.
Regarding G-Dragon, YG Entertainment commented, “We are still in the middle of contract negotiations.”
Meanwhile, T.O.P left YG Entertainment after his contract expired earlier this year.
