NewJeans topped the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart for the first time with “OMG”!
On January 13, Oricon released its latest weekly singles chart for the week of January 2-8, showing “OMG” at No. 1 with 56,560 points.
This Oricon chart determines its ranking by combining CD sales, digital downloads and streaming numbers. While various Korean artists have dominated this chart over the years with both Korean and Japanese singles, NewJeans are the first girl group to debut after 2016 to achieve this feat!
Earlier this week, Oricon announced that NewJeans’ “OMG” debuted at No. 1 on the Daily Singles Chart, selling 20,638 copies on its first day of release in Japan. NewJeans’ preview track “Ditto” debuted at #6 on the weekly streaming chart. On Oricon’s latest weekly digital singles chart, “OMG” is ranked 37th.
In addition, NewJeans’ debut release “New Jeans” reached a new peak, ranking 15th on the Oricon Weekly Digital Albums Chart. The group has three songs actively charting on Oricon’s weekly streaming chart, with “Ditto” at #9, “OMG” at #15, and “Hype Boy” at #41.
Congratulations NewJeans!
