MBC is sharing an exciting new look at their upcoming drama “Forbidden Marriage”!
Based on the web novel of the same name, “The Forbidden Marriage” will star Kim Young Dae as King Yi Heon, who falls into deep despair after the death of his wife and ends up banning marriages in his kingdom. Seven years after losing his wife (played by IZ*ONE’s Kim Min Ju), who was then the crown princess, he encounters a con artist named So Rang (Park Ju Hyun), who claims that she may be possessed by the spirit of the deceased princess.
The newly released preview begins with whispered rumors of the King’s sanity, with mutterings of “The King is a total lunatic” and “He’s gone completely insane.” Yi Heon then draws his sword and asks in an intimidating manner, “Do you also see me as a mad tyrant?”
Although the title introduces Yi Heon as “the mad king who banned weddings for seven years”, he ends up meeting the unstoppable conman So Ran, who bursts into the picture and confidently declares, “I’m back.” Described by someone as “the famous marriage con artist of our time”, the cheerful So Rang brags about all the illegal matches she’s made around the country before insisting, “I’m not going to get caught!”
However, the trailer then immediately cuts to So Rang behind bars, suggesting that she may have been overconfident. While the caption teases that she’ll “shake the whole nation with the lie she started to survive,” So Rang pretends to be possessed by Yi Heon’s late wife in a ridiculously desperate attempt to survive.
“Forbidden Marriage” will premiere on December 9 at 9:50 p.m. KST. In the meantime, check out the new teaser below!
